Meet the Coaches
I’m Ronald Douglas, the founder of The Race Continues Track Club. I’ve been coaching for the past 7 years and I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology, a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Leadership, and in Sports Management. I was a football and track & field athlete at Azusa Pacific University. After that, I stayed as a college football Assistant Coach for 3 years. Then in 2019 I participated in a Strength and Conditiong Internship at USC for their high-ranked football program. I’ve been involved with track & field my entire life and have experience coaching for numerous teams. Now, I’m also the head coach for Notre Dame High School and am looking forward to the upcoming TRC season.
I’m Shamara Carney, the co-founder of The Race Continues Track Club. Athletics have been a part of my life since the age of 4 when I discovered my first love, soccer. In high school, I was asked to join the track team and I quickly found out that’s where I truly belonged. I received the opportunity to compete in track and field on the Division 1 Collegiate level from 2014-2018 where I found my true passion for the sport and running in general. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and my Master of Arts in Strategic Public Relations from the University of Southern California (USC). While studying at USC, I worked with the USC Athletics program on their Athletics PR team. I began coaching the long sprinters at Notre Dame High School with Coach Ron in 2021 which led us to founding TRC, to develop young athletes further to prepare them for elite competition through the summer. Fun fact: in addition to coaching, I am still running myself, competing in monthly road races for fun. (and to let my competitive side thrive a bit :)).
